Susana Marcos accepted the Optical Society nomination to run in the elections for OSA Vicepresident. Elections are now open until Sept 23, 2016, and OSA members can cast their votes.
Susana Marcos is the Director of the Visual Optics and Biophotonics Lab, IO-CSIC and past Director of the Institute of Optics (CSIC), and past OSA Director-at-Large. In her statement, she “envisions OSA as an international and multidisciplinary, inclusive society, supportive of minorities, women, young scientists, experienced researchers, and entrepreneurs — building on the solid ground of over a century of leadership in optics, with a shining future ahead.”
Founded in 1916, The Optical Society is the leading professional association in optics and photonics, home to accomplished science, engineering, and business leaders from all over the world. Over the course of OSA’s nearly one hundred year history, 34 OSA members have been awarded a Nobel Prize in Physics, Chemistry or Physiology/Medicine.
