Alberto de Castro, COFUND Multiply Postdoctoral Fellow joins VIOBIO Lab

We welcome Dr. Alberto de Castro who joins the Visual Optics and Biophotonics Lab under the Marie Curie COFUND Action MULTIPLY.

Alberto de Castro developed his PhD thesis at the Institute of Optics under the supervision of Prof. Susana Marcos presenting the first estimates 3-D Gradient Index profiles of human crystalline lenses, based on OCT, for which he received the PhD thesis extraordinary Award from the University of Valladolid. He joins VioBio after several years of postdoctoral training in Indiana University (Steve Burns’ Laboratory) and Universidad de Murcia (Pablo Artal’s Lab) where he has worked on high resolution ocular imaging. His COFUND MULTIPLY project combines sophisticated ocular imaging and intraocular lens design.

COFUND MULTIPLY Program is an International Mobility and Training Program in Photonics for Experienced Researchers coordinated by Aston University. The Institute of Optics (CSIC) is one of the partners of the international research consortium.
