Outreach Article in “Mente y Cerebro” (Investigacion y Ciencia)
The Spanish Science Magazine, “Mente y Cerebro” published an article featuring results from our recent publication in Current Biology, on cyclopean visual process that compensates for the optical differences between eyes.

Book “Luz: Ciencia y Tecnologia”” commemorating the International Year of Light just released
A book on the science and technology of light (in Spanish) for the general public has been released, edited by Sergio Barbero, Carlos Dorronsoro and Jose Gonzalo (Instituto de Optica, CSIC), Editorial CSIC-Editorial Catarata. The book covers the properties of light and its relationship with the universe, life, vision, molecules, atmosphere, matter, illumination, communication, nanoscience and energy. Susana Marcos is the author of the Chapter “Light and Vision”
Susana Marcos received RSEF-Fundacion BBVA Physics, Innovation and Techology Award in Award Ceremony
The RSEF-Fundacion BBVA Award Ceremony took place last Tuesday (May 19, 2015) at the Palacio del Marques de Salamanca, in an event presided by the President of Fundacion BBVA, President of the Real Sociedad Española de Fisica and the Secretary of State of Science and Innovation. Susana Marcos received the Physics, Innovation and Technology Award, in a event which celebrated the success of optics. Maria Josefa Yzuel received the Medalla de Honor, highest recognition of the society. VioBio Lab, IO and CSIC Members, family, friends and members of the physics and optics community attended the event.

Marie Curie ITN Network awarded to MyFun Project
The European Commission has announced the award of Marie Curie ITN Network MyFun: Fundamental Questions in Myopia. The network is coordinated by the University of Tubingen (PI: Frank Schaeffel, Marita Feldkaemper), with partners from CSIC (PI: Susana Marcos), KTH (PI: Linda Lundstrom); Universidad de Murcia (PI: Pablo Artal), University College Dublin (PI: Brian Vohnsen), and industry (Zeiss and Voptica)
Spanish Government Grant (Societal Challenges) Awarded to VioBio Lab
The Spanish Ministry of Economy and Innovation has recently awarded grant FIS2014-56643-R “Optical imaging technologies and opto-mechanical models for diagnostics and personalized treatment in ophthalmology” , Principal Investigator: Susana Marcos. The project will use optical coherence tomography and sectioned microscopy, in combination with optical and finite element eye models for diagnostics and personalized treatment in conditions such as cataract surgery or corneal pathology.
The project has an associated FPI Predoctoral Fellowship.
