Alberto de Castro, Awarded the PhD Thesis Extraordinary Award
Alberto de Castro has received a PhD Thesis Extraordinary Award from the University of Valladolid for his thesis entilted “Reconstruction of the gradient refractive index of the crystalline lens with optimization methods”, defended last July , 2012. The thesis is supported by 5 high impact publications in the area of crystalline lens properties.
Contributions of the lens Gradient Index and shape to the lens spherical aberration and astigmatism, published in Vision Research
An OCT-based study of lens geometry and gradient refractive index in porcine lenses in vivo reveals that the presence of GRIN shifts spherical aberration towards negative values in comparison with a homogeneous index, and decreases the amount of astigmatism. The results are published in the June issue of Vision Research. Susana Marcos, elected a second term Biomedical Optics Express Associate Editor
The Optical Society of America Board of Directors has unanimously elected Susana Marcos for a second three-year term as Associate Editor of Biomedical Optics Express. Biomedical Optics Express is an open-access, peer-reviewed high impact OSA journal with a scope on optics, photonics and imaging in the life sciences.
