Dynamic characterization and control of opto-tunable lenses, published in Optics Express

figuraspapercarlos

Tunable lenses are increasingly popular in applications including microscopy, optical coherence tomography, computer vision, quality control, and presbyopic corrections, some of them requiring an accurate control of the optical power of the lens in response to a time-dependent input waveform. In a paper recently published in Optics Express, we present a fast focimeter (3.8 KHz) to characterize the dynamic response of tunable lenses. We demonstrated the compensation of the temporal distortions in the transient responses of optotunable lenses, broadening their potential in high-speed applications. This approach used in the Sim+Vis technology, using a temporal multiplexing approach to simulate multifocal lenses used to correct for presbyopia.
