Associated Unit CSIC-IIS Fundacion Jimenesz Diaz: Technology and Innovation in Ophthalmology

CSIC and the IIS Fundación Jimenez Díaz have just signed a collaborative agreement  for the association of the Tecnology and Innovation in Ophthalmology Group (IIS-FJD)as an Associated Unit to the Institute of Optics-CSIC. IIS-FJD mission is the promotion of research, scientific and technical knowledge and training in a clinical environment. The Visual Optics and Biophotonics and the Ophthalmology group at FJD maintain a long-standing collaboration for the application of the new technologies in the anterior segment of the eye.

OCT-based topography work Front Page at CSIC website

CSIC Web Page features in its front page today the Methods and Applications of Corneal Topography from Optical Coherence Tomography developed at the Visual Optics and Biophotonics Lab (http://www.vision.csic.es)

Effect of GRIN on OCT imaging of the crystalline lens published in OVS

We proposed a method to correct optical OCT images of posterior surface of the crystalline lens incorporating its gradient index (GRIN) distribution and explored its possibilities for posterior surface shapere construction in comparison to existing methods of correction, in a collaborative work with Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (University of Miami). Corneal analysis of keratoconic patients implanted with intraestromal rings from OCT, published in Biomedical Optics Express

New tools for quantitative analysis of corneal topography and corneal implants were developed and applied to keratoconus, before and after implantion of intrastromal ring segments. Full publication at: Ortiz et al. Biomedical Optics Express, Vol. 3, Issue 5, pp. 814-824 (2012)
